How do I create blended fabric sheets?
What is Angelina?
Angelina is this fabulous super soft yarn, that adds an incredible amount of sparkle to almost anything! There are several differents kinds of Angelina. The most common one is what is called Heat-bondable. What this means is when heated the fibers will melt to each other to form a fabric-Way too cool! However, the fibers only melt to themselves so they still have to be attached some way-either using Bo-Nash Bonding agent, Misty Fuse, fusible webbing, stitching a sheet down, or layering under another fabric such as tulle or organza.
How do I create fabric sheets?
Pull small amounts of the Angelina from the ball of Angelina and place on a sheet of parchment paper (or organza, or a pressing cloth.) Can you see how lightly this is layered? It uses a very small amount. These sheets can be made from a single color or by blending multiple colors -my favorite method!
Place another layer of parchment paper (or cloth)
over the Angelina and iron very lightly. I use a
silk setting on the iron and keep the iron moving.
Check to see if it is melded together. You can always iron it more if necessary. The color will change depending on how much you iron. In fact, you can scorch the Angelina if you are not careful.

How do I create blended fabric sheets?
This is just like creating a sheet of one color, except you are now using several different colors. It is a little hard to predict what the colors are going to look like blended so I recommend you make some samples, and actually write down your colors, and if possible, take photos during the processes! Recreating a blend can be done-just look at the jacket in the samples section.
To make larger sheets I create as big a piece as I can, then add more to it!
I have used the Bo-Nash bonding agent to attach both the bondable and non-bondable Angelina. Other fusible light weight interfacings can be used, such as Misty Fuse, Steam-A-Seam2 lite. I have also stitched the Angelina directly to another fabric. I have also used this as an applique material that was attached using an embroidery design.
Once you have these sheets you can now use these in a variety of ways. I have used Angelina to create complete outfits, as a trim for scarves and jackets, incorporated into appliqués, and reverse appliqués. The possibilities are endless. Angelina can be ironed on a stamp or texture sheet to create textures into the sheets, stenciled or stamped. The resulting sheets can be used in Scrap booking, they can be used in paper punches, just place between two pieces of paper before punching so that it does not get stuck in the punch, and it punches cleanly. It can be molded into bowls or any other shape you can come up with!!
This is a garment I made using blended Angelina sheets. I used approx 6 1/2 ounce packets of Angelina in Gold Iris Mix, Calypso Blue, Mint Sparkle, Dessert Sunset, Opal Sparkle and Crystal Amethyst. This made enough to create the jacket pieces, some samples to play with and the edge of the purse.
I attached the sheets to the antique gold sparkle organza using a design of bamboos that I digitized. This was a design from the Golden Threads Continuous line pattern (Julie Mullen’s Bamboo design.) I had permission from them to digitize this for my use. I also did a smaller version to use on the collar, cuffs, and purse. A larger version was used on the top and pants. I used the pecan silk dupioni for the pants, top and purse.
I have always loved peacock feathers. This was inspired
by a purse I saw at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London in the early seventies. I digitized my own feather, and used the Angelina to create the peacock eye! I used Onyx Flash, Rose Gold flash and Emerald Flash (all non-heat bondable) I rolled small balls of Angelina of each color, placed one on top of the other,
then covered with water soluble and stitched the feather design. This shawl and purse (shown below) are available as kits. Also shown is the design detail.
I have also used the Angelina to create the sheen found in butterfly wings. These designs are available in kit form (both large and small) from DesignbyDawn which include the Turquoise flash Angelina and the Swarovski crystals.
The purse is shown as well.
