About Penny

Bio

In my earlier life I was a Professor of Computer Science in England for 2 years, specializing in Graphics and System Analysis and Design. I worked in the Software Design and Development field for many years working mainly on Artificial Intelligence and software deveoplment.

I have been an avid sewer since I got my first sewing machine at age 8. I really immersed myself in the world of wearables when I retired from NASA in 1994.

I have helped found and belong to several wearable groups, including Contempo Wearables. This inspiring group is a joy to work with. I am a leader of an American Sewing Guild (ASG) Neighborhood Group - Adventures in Wearables that meets in Webster Texas.

Born in Britain, I married my American husband Steve and we enjoy spending time together with our Siberian Husky, Vinnie.

Currently we live in Alvin Texas on 8 wooded acres out in the country. Very different from our waterfront home of 22 years. We bought the property because of all the trees and the pond with the island! We call it Taddies Hollow because of all the frogs (which I love!) In the early Spring we get anywhere from 6-23 Night Crested Herons. We have actually had 6 mating pairs one year. Each pair seems to have 2 babies (Actually one had 5 this past year!) and they get big very quickly. They fly away in about June or July. They are so much fun to watch as they try to build their nests and manage the babies. Of course we have lots of other kinds of birds, including a red-tailed Hawk, many cardinals, and a slew of squirrels.
While still a work in progress, the house and property  has changed significantly since we bought it.
My favorite part was finishing the extension we added, as I got a great new kitchen and a wonderful studio. Of course the studio is not completely organized yet. (probably will never be finished)
