“Red, White & Welcome” cries she, with silent lips.
Penny Muncaster-Jewell

Inspired by the poem The New Colossus by Emma Lazarus (1883) which is inscribed on the pedestal of the Statue of Liberty, this original garment is all thread lace with a silk lining. The bodice is quilted by the application of the embroidered stars, and the shoulder straps and dropped shoulder detail are beaded. Part of the poem is embroidered on the bottom of the stripes, a subtle but wonderful reminder of the famous “Give me your tired, your poor,…”

The thread lace was made completely on the embroidery machine and digitized in the PE-Design software.

The Sky is not the limit, nor are the stars. It’s your imagination!
